Where did people get this idea? Lions roam the Gir Forest (India) which is a tropical jungle. Even the west african lion roams parts of the Congo Forest and its southern cousin exists through most of Angola, which include Maiombe, Africa's largest jungle area. But since it's much easier to locate and film lions in open fields, we only see documentaries shot in savannahs, which create a popular (false) notion that they don't exist anywhere else.
